Meet Clarence the pygmy marmoset. Yes, he just goes by his first name... no surname.
According to Wikipedia: "The pygmy marmoset (Cebuella pygmaea) is a small species of New World monkey native to rainforests of the western Amazon Basin in South America. The species is notable for being the smallest monkey and one of the smallest primates in the world, at just over 100 grams (3.5 oz). It is generally found in evergreen and river-edge forests and is a gum-feeding specialist, or a gummivore. It is listed as a Vulnerable species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. The species was originally listed on Appendix I by CITES due to wildlife trade but has since been downgraded to Appendix II. It is threatened by habitat loss in some areas of its range, and by the pet trade in others (i.e. Ecuador)."
According to all thinking humans: DO NOT KEEP THESE BEAUTIFUL CREATURES AS PETS! They are wild and much prefer jungles and their social groups. Choose instead a dog or kitty in need and just hang a painting of a pygmy marmoset on your wall to remind you of their supreme cuteness.
Clarence's details are the following:
- Painting is 5x5" (I'm thinking this is sort of an "actual size" painting of one of these guys!)
- Custom built, hand finished frame that measures approx. 11x11" (outer dimentions)
- Painting is acrylic on gessoed birch panel, and is sealed with UV protective gloss acrylic varnish
- Frame has an inner edge of and added corner embellishments that have been gilded and aged
He is ready to hang anywhere in your home or office or other. If you have any questions at all, please contact me.
